Progress On The Green Scarf

Last week, I mentioned a scarf I'd started knitting with the Lanitium ex Machina yarn I won a while back. Yesterday, Rick and I drove to Windsor to pick up some car parts for his dad. I brought my knitting along so I could make some progress.
Even though I used a filter on Instagram, the colours in this are pretty accurate. It's a pretty simple pattern using YO and k2tog all the way through. Right now, it measures about 28 inches long and 6 inches wide. I know it will grow after blocking.
Speaking of blocking, I have a set of blocking wires and pins in my shopping cart on Amazon. I'm waiting to have enough in gift cards to order those and the few other things Rick and I are coveting. I was going to get some from KnitPicks with my next order, but the gift cards I collect will essentially make them free from Amazon! And free is my favourite price.
In other fun news, I'm in the process of reading the entirety of the KnitQuest and Tiny Owl Knits blogs. They make for good reading when working on this scarf, or one of the other two projects I have on the go. Are there any blogs you've read from beginning to end? I like to have something easy to read when knitting, and blogs seem to do the trick.

Over a week with no posts!

I am sorry for deserting you, dear readers!
I have been planning several posts, but had to abandon them for a short while, because of a work injury. As some of you know, I work in a deli in a grocery store. On Monday, a holiday for us Canadians, I was opening a salami, when the knife I was using slipped. I ended up cutting my thumb pretty deeply. I went to the hospital where they suggested I just use Steri Strips to keep the wound shut, rather than wait around about 3 hours until I could get in to get stitches. So that's what I did. My dear boyfriend, Rick, brought me to dinner after to cheer me up.
Because of this silly injury, I haven't been knitting a whole lot.
Otherwise, life is great! I have done several interviews with different people, the first of with was Kate H. from WAMM. WAMM, Windsor Arts & Music Monthly, is an awesome local paper that is always a great read. She came into craft night a few weeks back and asked if I would be interested in doing an interview. I, of course, jumped at the opportunity. She sent the questions to me via Facebook and I answered right away.
Kate's a super sweet girl and an awesome writer. (She read some of her poetry at the Gendered Experience show)
I have also been interviewed for the local regular newspaper. I'm not sure when that article will be published, I'm hoping someone on Twitter will let me know when they see it, because I don't get the paper delivered.
In other news, I have started a couple of new blogs. This time, I have used the Tumblr platform, as opposed to Blogger. Tumblr is a SUPER simple way to blog and I am enjoying it very much. I have two blogs over there, which are updated several times a day.
The first is DistillingWater. This is my personal blog. A sort of catch-all for anything and everything that interests me.
The second is I Love Etsy. I am posting several Etsy items every day with a link to the sellers shop. This one is a lot of fun. I look through Etsy for about an hour a day, and find 10 or so items that I really like and post them.
Overall, life is great.

The end of the Original T-Shirt Art Show

I finally picked up my scarves from Phog on Saturday. Tom had them in a couple small boxes in the back, and when I saw how few were there, I was happy. I sold nearly half of them, and made a good chunk of change, especially considering all I had to do was bring them in.
If you're ever in Windsor, you should really check out the bar. It's located at 157 University, not far from the bus station. Tom always has something going on.

I WANT THIS!

One of my favourite blogs is called Shut Up, I'm Counting. Cass is a knitter, a mother and a pet sitter. Most of her entries have something to do with one of those. Lately, she has posted a bit about her new Etsy shop, called CassQuotes. She sells hilarious wall hangings there. This one is my favourite, and definitely applies to me.I have no idea where I would put it, but it would save a whole lot of explaining when we have company over. My parents friends come over now and then and wonder why there is yarn in nearly every room of the house, and then ask my Mom what she is knitting. My mother is not much of a knitter... She can, but she rarely does. She will tell whoever is over that I'm the one knitting. Like I said before, I have purple hair, and don't really look like the knitting type. This wall hanging would be perfect. The skull and crossed-needles are a nice touch.

Blogs I Follow

Google Reader is either the best or worst thing ever invented.
Through Blogger Following, I follow just over 100 blogs. Seventy five or so are yarn related in some way. About 10 are people blogging about their day to day. The rest are craft, money or blog related.
Since "the weekend I forgot about the internet" AKA was super busy, I have had at least 50 entries lined up to read. Tonight, this number sits at 80. I am hoping to get it to 40 or lower before I go to bed.
How many blogs do you follow?
I am still working on the Homespun baby blanket. It's around 95 stitches wide, and I'm almost through one skein. I'm thinking 100 stitches would be a nice number to end off on.

A new favourite Blog!

My knitting friend Samantha just started a(n other) new blog.
Sam designed all of the ads I use for this blog (which I still have to post) and is an all around awesome person.

My favourite knitted item of the moment, by Sam, of course:

Much of the yarn in that scarf/cowl was mine at one point. She will be starting an Etsy shop soon, and when she does, I will add a link!

My new favourite blog

I'm a huge blog reader, you can see this here in the blogs I follow...

One of my new favourites is Divine Bird. Jenny Bannock has been blogging at WordPress since July 2007 about her adventures in knitting AND spinning. I just started reading in the past month or so, but I've gone back and read almost all the entries.

This is perfect reading for me when I'm knitting. An awesome layout, perfect font size so I don't have to scroll all the time, and just enough pictures.

There is also a Divine Bird Etsy shop, and I want this, even though I don't knit socks. I think it would just sit on top of my stash for the next 20 years.
