The Squares! (Finally)

Thursday night, I went to Samantha's for a knitting night/secret society meeting. We knit, recorded videos, goofed around and played games. Knitting nights are always a blast for the simple reason that it gives us an excuse to get together.

Obviously, not much knitting happened, but Samantha did take pictures of my B4C squares.

I am hoping to make more of these squares real soon!

The Secret Society Meeting

Tonight, we are having a knitting night/secret society meeting at Samantha's house. It really is a secret as to what is going on, because I don't even know yet!
All I do know is that I will return with a completed dishcloth, and pictures of my recently finished squares!
I was wondering if any of you, dear readers, have knitting nights with your friends? I know there are a lot of public knitting circles, but what about getting together with just your good friends to catch up, and hang out?

Start Something Sunday

Welcome to Sunday! Today is a lazy day for me. Sitting around in my pyjamas, visiting my boyfriend, knitting and playing video games.
I have been up for a little while already, and I started a new scarf. This one is in the Blossom colorway, same as the rest of the Thick & Quick scarves. Even though it is slowly starting to warm up (despite the surprise snowfall yesterday!) I love knitting scarves. They are perfect TV knitting, being mostly portable, easy to look away from and generally, fairly repetitive.
I have also been keeping up with my B4C squares. Sam and I are planning to have our very own knitting night soon. It's just a matter of getting together on a night we both have free!
I am working on a knitting project of sorts. It's taking a lot more time than I expected, but once I figure out all the details, you can be sure Ill update all of you!

Blankets for Canada

A few days ago, Samantha, Dan and I went to a Blankets for Canada meeting. This is the second time I had attended one of these nights, and their first. I brought a few squares I had made over the past few months, as well as one that I had on the needles.

This is the square I had on the needles when I got there. I have NO IDEA what sort of yarn it is, because I acquired it through someone else when they were cutting down their stash. After finishing this one, I used a skein of dusty pink, fairly thin yarn paired with an off white to make my second square. I finished it a day or two after the meeting, and I will bring it in next time we go. The squares are quick to knit, and very little thought is required while knitting them. I follow the Grandma's Favourite pattern, until I get 8 inches on one side, and then start decreasing. It's my nearly fail-proof way of getting a perfect square.

This is Dan and his square. Which is much improved over his knit "thing" when he first started knitting. I'm not sure of his progress on the square, but I'm sure Sam will keep me updated!

Charity knitting is something I have done in the past, and it's something anyone can do. I'm hoping to continue making squares with my leftover bits for as long as I am knitting!

Phog Lounge

I took a picture of the scarves at Phog the other night. When I got there, I looked to the back wall, and saw quite a site. My scarves took up nearly the entire wall. Samantha was the only other person who brought scarves in. I tried my best to get all of them in, but with the bad lighting, only having a cell phone to take a picture with, and the wall just being COVERED, it proved impossible.
The entire top row is mine. The right half of the bottom row is mine. The one that sold is the darker one that is hanging lower than the rest of the others on the top row.I'm hoping to sell a few more of these soon. I will be headed back to Phog some time this week to check on them.

A new favourite Blog!

My knitting friend Samantha just started a(n other) new blog.
Sam designed all of the ads I use for this blog (which I still have to post) and is an all around awesome person.

MOAR DISHCLOTHS!

I went to Michael's with Sam yesterday. Spent only about 60$ on yarn. A bunch of Red Heart Baby Clouds (for baby blankets) and some Bernat Cotton Tots (for dishcloths).
I will post pictures once I get my camera back from downstairs.
Right now, I'm going to knit this cloth out of yellow Cotton Tots.
Here is my status. It's also going to eliminate the ned to print a copy of the pattern.
9:00 am: started
9:54 am: finished row 5
Had Easter Breakfast with the family here. I havn't had eggs in a long time. This breakfast reminded me why. Bleh! I did have Boca Breakfast Links, though. I LOVE those!
10:33 am: just finished row 7. The way this is looking, I look like a terribly slow knitter! I've been watching movies, and talking to my mom about what I'm trying to do with all the yarn I bought last night!
10:43 am: Row 10 complete. Taking a break to get dressed and ready for the day!
10:55 am: Row 12 complete.
12:00: Row 15 complete, and off to Easter brunch
1:45 pm: Finished row 22.
My skein of yarn exploded. there must have been a tangle on the inside, because about half the skein came out with a slight tug on the working end of the yarn.

The Craft Show

Well, the craft show is done. It was this past Saturday, the 15th, and in my opinion, it went OK. Not great. Not terrible. Just OK.
I sat just inside the main doors, next to Sam, and on the her other side, was my cousin Kelly selling cards. Next to Kelly, was Cindy, selling tea.
It wasn't as busy as I had hoped for. Some of the vendors did do fairly well, though. That is Sam at her booth. Hers was by far the most creative booth out of all the vendors. I was totally promoting the life out of her booth, telling everyone that she was selling cat toys. She sold a few, I wish she sold more.

Here is the grease-ball. AKA me. You can see the dishcloths right in front. I sold all the ones that had something on them, except for one of the ribbon cloths.

That's something else I do. I make hemp and beaded bracelets and necklaces. Until I just looked at this picture, I never realised how many I have made. Sam's fish-on-a-fluffy-stick, as modeled by Laura.
SOME of the scarves I have made. I'm guilty of the over use of novelty yarn. The orange scarf on the left, and the orange-y one on the right were the only 2 that sold at the show. I didn't expect to sell any, being mid-March and all.

That's it for the pic-spam. I'm hoping to do an other show in mid-fall.

Knitting with Sam

As most knitters know, any social event with the main goal being to accomplish some knitting does the exact opposite. Sam and I had a knitting date on Sunday evening. My goal was to finish my pink ribbon dishcloth, and one coffee cup cozy. Which were both almost finished, anyway.

I had been wanting to give Sam some of my yarn for ages. I have alot. And most of it is small-ish bits... I also found some random balls of yarn that were all sorts of bits that were tied together end to end. I decided to take those apart. It ended in this. Thats only about half the yarn. There's a ton more. I took apart one of the two balls.

Sam was knitting her cat fishies. She finished 4 while she was at my house. These are the four she made.

Knit Fishies

Little knit fishies. Cat toys, obviously! From what she has been posting, they're really simple. Made from this pattern, I'm hoping she can get alot of cat toys made and have a booth at the craft show!
