I Have a Square Card Reader!

A few days back, my friend Chris and I were talking about credit card readers that were available in Canada. He is a graphic designer, and a musician, and wanted another way for people to be able to pay him, other than cash. Makes sense, right? Getting paid is always a good thing. Anyway, Square was the first one that came to mind. As far as we knew, it was still only available in the US, with the hopes of it coming to Canada at some point in the future. Well, the future is now apparently, because we both ordered our readers and received them this week!
With the readerS (yes, there were two) there was also an awesome American Apparel shirt emblazoned with the Square name and logo.
I can't wait to use this at a craft show. I am so excited to be able to accept credit card payments!

It's Sunday again!

So I started something! But first, what I finished.
I have completed a few tags here and there this past week, as well as 2 scarves with the new yarn I picked up. Pictures of the tags will happen when they find their new homes.
And today, I started an other tag. This one is made out of yarn I bought ages ago in a large bag of mill ends. I do that quite often, if I find something interesting in those bags. I often use the yarn for charity square knitting, and it's PERFECT for knitting tags: cheap, colourful and plentiful. The particular yarn I chose for today's tag (which will likely go on a parking meter) is crazy! It's got pompom things, and eyelash things and it's multi colour and awesome! Pain to knit with, though. I'm trying to figure out how I am going to sew it up once it's on the meter. Usually I leave a long tail of the yarn and use that to sew it up. In this case, it will be pretty difficult with all the little bobbles and thingys all over it. I'll likely end up just taking a scrap piece of blue similar to the blue in the yarn itself and sew it up with that.
A Picture/Video Message! on Twitpic
More tags to come soon, I'm sure!

The Squares! (Finally)

Thursday night, I went to Samantha's for a knitting night/secret society meeting. We knit, recorded videos, goofed around and played games. Knitting nights are always a blast for the simple reason that it gives us an excuse to get together.
Obviously, not much knitting happened, but Samantha did take pictures of my B4C squares.

I am hoping to make more of these squares real soon!

The Secret Society Meeting

Tonight, we are having a knitting night/secret society meeting at Samantha's house. It really is a secret as to what is going on, because I don't even know yet!
All I do know is that I will return with a completed dishcloth, and pictures of my recently finished squares!
I was wondering if any of you, dear readers, have knitting nights with your friends? I know there are a lot of public knitting circles, but what about getting together with just your good friends to catch up, and hang out?

Start Something Sunday

Welcome to Sunday! Today is a lazy day for me. Sitting around in my pyjamas, visiting my boyfriend, knitting and playing video games.
I have been up for a little while already, and I started a new scarf. This one is in the Blossom colorway, same as the rest of the Thick & Quick scarves. Even though it is slowly starting to warm up (despite the surprise snowfall yesterday!) I love knitting scarves. They are perfect TV knitting, being mostly portable, easy to look away from and generally, fairly repetitive.
I have also been keeping up with my B4C squares. Sam and I are planning to have our very own knitting night soon. It's just a matter of getting together on a night we both have free!
I am working on a knitting project of sorts. It's taking a lot more time than I expected, but once I figure out all the details, you can be sure Ill update all of you!

I am making progress!

I have still been knitting, despite funeral home visits, tears and lack of motivation. I am up to a total of FIVE Blankets 4 Canada squares, with an other almost finished. I am trying to make them all different by combining two yarns for each one. I don't want to duplicate squares, because that's not as much fun!
I am trying to have ten squares finished for the next meeting (almost a month away). I will be incredibly happy if I reach this goal!
In other knitting news, I've been working on dishcloths off and on. They're a really portable project, so I have been bringing them in the car with me on long and short trips.

A new square!

No surprise here, it's Sunday and I started something new! I finished an other square yesterday, so I had my B4C needles empty and waiting for something new. I dug through my stash and found 2 small balls of eye lash yarn in blue/green colourways. I didn't think either one would be enough to make one square, so I am striping the two. I am holding them both with the same skein of white worsted weight the whole way through. So far, I haven't had any huge issues with tangles, and I am hoping to avoid them.
I will soon post pictures of all the squares I have done so far. I am trying to make each one different, and I have enough yarn to do this for at least 50 squares! The next meeting is tomorrow night, I'm going to bring all the squares I have in and they will help make a blanket to keep a Canadian warm!

Start Something Sunday

I went shopping with my Mom yesterday and I brought a square I started to work on when we were driving. It was an awesome blue-green paired with a regular white. It looked great at first, then I realized I hated the colours held together.
It was frogged and the needles were put aside so I could start an other square with them. Which I did today. It's the same regular white, held together with an unknown novelty yarn in yellow, purple, blue and green. I just started it an hour ago and I'm already about half way done!

PS. Sorry for the goofyness of some of the posts. I don't know what happened, but I had to delete a couple entries that were all mixed up.
